Just got an email from The Riverside Studios that Mies Julie ends this weekend. The Riverside says:

This explosive new adaptation of Strindberg's classic Miss Julie, from the internationally acclaimed director Yael Farber, is both intimate and epic. Featuring an exhilarating live soundscape and thrilling performances, Mies Julie is the smash-hit that has been wowing audiences (Daily Telegraph).

I went across to see the play at Easter, weeks ago now, really enjoyed it and meant to write recommending it. I thought the play itself had some structural and analogical weaknesses but the two lead actors give truly exciting, viscerally physical, performances and are so worth seeing. Do go if you are able - it’s on until 19 May only.

Note: The Riverside is pretty good for wheelchair access if you haven’t been before and you should be able to find parking on the streets close by. Some of the pavements around are a bit broken and slope-y, the doors aren’t automated and it always seems to be incredibly busy which makes wheeling a frustrating experience but it is on the level inside and the wheelchair positions are at the front, to the side, with excellent views and access.

Busy is clearly good for them and, as ever, I never fail to marvel at everything The Riverside is that, for some inexplicable (to me) reasons, The Watermans Arts Centre in Brentford is not. The Watermans should just be … better, no?
